Previously on Mostly Mortals...
The party regroups at the bar. Shirley unveils his new splint mail with a grin. "Shirley Two-Point-Oh."
Then Caelum makes a connection. The mausoleum had its name chiseled off. The Ebon Gospel had its final pages torn out. Someone is actively erasing the lich Mexoz Valaryn from history. A classic case of... Damnatio Memoriae.
They visit Sister Holland... no, Sister Elvin... Helwin? Whatever her name is. They visit her for the second tome. She does not have it. But she does have a story.
Her grandmother walked the Black Pilgrimage seeking the power to stop it. The path corrupted her into a jibbering thing of teeth and flesh. The road to dark wizardry has a toll.
The party splits. Idril pushes for the cemetery. Orion rides for the council. And Oggy... Oggy slips into shadow and trails Orion, just to be sure.
In the council chamber Orion makes the case to attack the cemetery, his noble's tongue carrying the room. Oggy listens, invisible, three feet away. The paladin passes the test.
At the cemetery, Caelum spends an hour summoning a raven familiar. One of those minutes is the ritual. The other fifty-eight minutes are spent arguing about its name. Lurd? Corvus? Lenore? They settle on Lirdi. Idril spelled backwards. The raven gets no vote.
Then Kimber does the unthinkable. Disguise Self. A dead-body costume. And the literal Thriller dance. The zombies sway along. Idril walks past them like they are not even there.
A silent scimitar. One sentry down. The lich is RIGHT there in the cemetery's heart.
And then Shirley charges, screaming his own name. SHIRLEY SCRUMPTIOUS!
The lich vanishes. A zombie's teeth find Kimber's arm.
She has thirteen days before her disguise becomes... permanent.
And that is where we pick up tonight...
