Player Summary
Dom, you missed one. Here’s what your friends did while you were gone, including to you.
The party finally stopped arguing and left the catacomb for a long rest. On the way out, Andrew from the reinforcements found a pile of gold in a pit. The gold had a tongue. The gold is still there, because so is the mimic.
At the inn, Idril took first watch and dragged Orion awake for second. Orion decided the city watch had it covered and went back to sleep. Then Oggy’s card deck came out. Oggy, as always, drew clean. One of his draws landed on Orion instead: poisoned, 8 in-game days to live, and nothing touches it. Not Lay on Hands, not Lesser Restoration, nothing. “Only thing I can think of is a lich.” Karma’s a bitch.
Then the actual miracle: in the morning, one Lesser Restoration landed on Kimber and the DM said “You’re cured.” The zombie-bite clock that’s been running since May is OVER.
Orion marched off to the monastery (sun banners, many priests, magistrate at morning prayer) to deal with his poison. Meanwhile Wrathgar ran a fake “initiation tradition”: mystery potions for everyone. He faked his own shot into his cloak.
The results: Cartman has permanent webbed hands and a swim speed (he’s thrilled) and spent two hours as fun-dead. Idril is now a large water elemental that only Cartman can understand. And yes, Caelum participated: the table ruled he “would never not,” rolled his d100, and he now has a third eye (+2 Perception, duration TBD with the DM). Sorry. Sort of.
After a long bar-side symposium on mermaid reproduction, Kimber, Cartman, Wrathgar and elemental-Idril went back down to finish the nine leftover skeletons in the hallway (regular, everyday skeletons - no lich in sight, whatever the table’s map-squinting suggested) and opened with a surprise round. Idril IS the front line now (DC 15 or you’re inside him). Session cut mid-fight.
Oggy held the fort at the inn; a note was left for Orion: “Gone to kill dead things.”
Session Timeline
- The vote lands - After last session’s 45-minute argument, the party leaves for town, telling the reinforcements “we found Mexoz again.”
- The gold pit - Reinforcement soldier Andrew finds gold in a pit; it’s a mimic; he elects not to push his luck. ~9 skeletons spotted nearby.
- The inn - Two rooms, watch order argued; Idril takes first watch, Orion blows off second.
- The cards - Oggy’s deck comes out. Oggy draws clean again; a draw backfires onto Orion: poisoned.
- The clock - Timer rolls up from 1 day to 8 in-game days. Lay on Hands and Lesser Restoration both fail. “Legit cursed… a powerful force.”
- The cure - Morning Lesser Restoration on Kimber: “You’re cured.” The zombie-bite quest closes.
- The monastery - Orion seeks aid: sun banners, priests at morning prayer, the magistrate not in yet, a ritual pending.
- The initiation - Wrathgar’s mystery potions: Cartman gets permanent webbing + 2 hours undead; Idril becomes a large water elemental; Caelum (in absentia) gets a third eye; fear and shrink effects land on others (identities TBC).
- Mermaid symposium - Bar-side research into mermaid reproduction; a sailor confirms nobody who chases them comes back.
- The lich question - The table squints at the map (“IF the lich is back… it’s come back once”); Mexoz is NOT seen, status unknown. The Alarm + Detect Magic phylactery plan is drafted for when they do face him.
- Back down - Kimber, Cartman, Wrathgar and elemental-Idril return to the catacomb; surprise round on ~9 skeletons; session ends mid-combat.
Encounters
| # | Enemies | Location | Outcome | Notable |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Mimic (gold pile) | Pit near catacomb exit | Avoided/fled | Andrew’s discovery; stray arrow dealt 8 piercing to a peeker; loot unclaimed |
| 2 | ~9 skeletons | Catacomb hallway (10 ft wide) | ONGOING at session end | Surprise round; elemental Idril as front line (DC 15 STR, 2d8+4); ~4 down |
Combat Summary
- Total Rounds: surprise round + ~1 (session cut mid-fight)
- Damage Highlights: Elemental Idril slam-killed two skeletons; Wrathgar Hunter’s Marked and arrow-killed one (“ribcage explodes”); Cartman melee’d the marked skeleton with Sunblade bonus damage vs undead; Kimber’s Cloud of Daggers carpeted the back rank.

| Kimber | CURED of the zombie bite | Cloud of Daggers slot |
| Idril | Large water elemental (duration unknown), only Cartman understands him | - |
| Cartman | Permanent webbed hands + swim speed; undead 2h (expired) | - |
| Wrathgar | Untouched (never drank his potion) | Arrows, Hunter’s Mark |

Key Decisions
- Finally committed to the long rest instead of pressing the catacomb exhausted.
- Orion skipped his watch shift (“the watch is handled by the watch”), which the table framed as the karmic cause of his poisoning.
- Orion chose the monastery ritual over waiting for party solutions.
- Wrathgar chose deception over participation in his own initiation ritual; Cartman chose (badly) to trust the vibe.
- The party split: combat group returned to the catacomb without Orion (monastery) or Oggy (inn), leaving the note “Gone to kill dead things.”
- Drafted but did not execute the Alarm + Detect Magic phylactery-hunting plan (an object under Nondetection would be the only thing NOT pinging).
Quests & Progress
- Cure Kimber’s Zombie Disease → COMPLETED. Lesser Restoration after the long rest. (Theory: it worked because Mexoz was dead at the moment of casting.)
- NEW URGENT: Cure Orion’s Poison. Poisoned the night of the 17th of Harvest, 1271; 8 in-game days; deadline ≈ end of the 25th of Harvest. Resists Lay on Hands, Lesser Restoration, Medicine. Wish suspected as the true cure; monastery ritual in progress.
- Wish queue (inference): was Caelum + Kimber + Orion; Kimber’s cure reduces it to Caelum + Orion.
- Moonstone Crown / Mexoz: Mexoz was NOT seen this session (corrected); the catacomb fight was against leftover skeletons and his return status is unknown. Phylactery still code-locked in party inventory; Alarm + Detect Magic sweep drafted.
- Rescue Mano: new intel - Mano is an Order of Twilight Song “original,” alive, a husk in stasis.
Unresolved Threads
- The skeleton hallway fight (mid-combat cliffhanger).
- Orion’s monastery ritual outcome; who/what is the Magistrate?
- Caelum’s third-eye duration.
- Idril’s elemental duration; can it be ended, and does he want it ended?
- Who got the fear (2h) and shrink (1d4 ft / 1d4 h) potion effects.
- Kruger the homunculus: owner unclear, “he’s permanent,” already died once?
- The mimic and its gold pile, unlooted.
- Order lore: the “originals,” the two bloodline connections, Kimber’s pending initiation, and the un-initiated “new team leader.”
Reminders for Next Session
- Resume mid-combat: surprise round spent, ~5 skeletons left. Mexoz’s status unknown (not seen this session).
- Orion’s clock: poisoned night of 17th of Harvest, dead by ~25th without a cure. Track the days.
- Orion is at the monastery; Oggy at the inn; the note “Gone to kill dead things” is their only briefing.
- The Alarm + Detect Magic phylactery sweep is drafted and ready to try.
- Orion burned next session’s D20 reroll token.
Loot & Gold
- Gold earned: 0 (the only gold seen had teeth)
- Items found: none
- Items used/lost: several mystery potions (Wrathgar’s stock), 5 pts Lay on Hands, 2 Lesser Restoration castings, 1 Cloud of Daggers slot
