D&D Highlights
Karma at the inn - Idril drags Orion awake for second watch (“if anybody dies during second or third watch, it’ll be your fault”); Orion shrugs it off since the city watch has it covered; by morning he’s poisoned with an 8-day death clock and nothing, not Lay on Hands, not Lesser Restoration, touches it.
Kimber is cured - after three months of the zombie-bite clock, one morning Lesser Restoration and a flat “You’re cured.” The quietest resolution of the campaign’s loudest timer.
The mystery-potion initiation - Wrathgar’s fake “new member tradition”: he sleight-of-hands his own shot into his cloak (17), Cartman’s counter-pour attempt nat-1s, and the d100 table dismantles the party: permanent webbed hands, two hours of being undead, one large water elemental.
Caelum participates from home - “Did Kale participate?” “He would never not.” One d100 later, the absent wizard has a third eye.
Andrew fucked around and found out - a reinforcement soldier investigates the gold at the bottom of a pit; the gold has a tongue.
The horcrux plan - “IF the lich is back… it’s come back once.” Nobody knows Mexoz’s status, so the Alarm-plus-Detect-Magic phylactery plan gets drafted at a bar, pending “a better wizard.”
The return - surprise round in a 10-foot hallway: elemental Idril crashes through skeletons (DC 15 or be inside him), Wrathgar arcs arrows over the top, Kimber carpets the back rank in Cloud of Daggers.
Table Culture (Non-D&D Gold)
The mermaid reproduction symposium - a full bar-scene research session: egg-laying vs live birth, shark anatomy trivia, whether a cannibal mermaid is a pescatarian, and the Kate McKinnon SNL sketch as a cited source.
Cerulean blue - a multi-minute argument about Cartman’s canonical eye color escalating into The Devil Wears Prada discourse.
“Ye olde” is fake - the thorn-letter linguistics lecture (the Y is a dead TH character), followed by Irish’s missing W.
Dial-up nostalgia - why modems screamed; an attack roll lands mid-explanation: “it’s just the handshake process.”
Guinness turkey - seasonal-drink review becomes a Guinness gravy pitch and the volcano mashed potatoes technique.
The celiac story - misdiagnosed five years, still ordering beer and hot dogs: “Don’t tell my wife.” “She knew.”
Spaceballs 2 - Rick Moranis out of retirement, the fake phase slate to 2149, and the John Candy hologram question. Room split on whether it opens huge and disappoints.
Dice economics - practice rolls waste your good rolls; triple ones means buy a lottery ticket (or definitely don’t); Orion burns next session’s reroll token in August.
