Previously... on Mostly Mortals.

Down in the dark beneath the graveyard, the job was nearly done. One skeleton left. Cartman peeled his own glowing sword up off the floor, the one he had politely handed to a zombie the week before, withered hand still clinging to the hilt like a souvenir keychain... and put it straight up through the thing's skull.

Wrathgar contributed by picking up half a zombie and throwing it across the room. The bottom half. Thirty feet. Nobody asked him to. Nobody stopped him either.

Kimber arrived fashionably late, as is tradition, and asked whether she was late... or exactly on time.

Then Cartman set his shoulder against a coffin lid, with Idril supervising helpfully from a safe distance, and rolled the two worst dice in the recorded history of dice. Threw his back out. Locked up his own armor. Spent the entire rest of the night folded sideways like a lawn chair... fighting an ancient evil at roughly half a man.

Meanwhile the others snapped the hammer off an old dwarven statue and found meat under the stone. That warrior was never carved. Somebody turned him into furniture. And he may still be in there. Listening.

So naturally, that is the moment they chose to pry open a coffin.

Something was home.

Mexoz. The lich they killed. The lich they buried. Climbing up out of the box like a man running late for work... with the ghost of a shattered crown still burning over his skull.

Kimber swatted his first spell clean out of the air. Not today! ...And then, with tremendous confidence, hurled a curse at the undead sorcerer that healed him completely.

She evened the score by firing a bolt of lightning blind into a poison cloud and hitting Orion with it. Wrathgar, who nobody had thought to brief, threw an axe, missed everything in the room, and was immediately accused of working for the enemy.

But when it counted, they were magnificent. Caelum stood inside that poison and simply refused to fall. Oggy closed his eyes and walked straight into the green, because Oggy never needed them anyway... and he hurt that lich worse than any of them.

And Orion ended it! Hammer up. Hammer down. Then he poured every last drop of healing he had into Caelum and kept the man on his feet.

Then Idril opened the other coffin.

Gold. Diamonds. Armor nobody trusts. And a Moonstone Crown. Whole. Brand new. Waiting.

That is twice now they have killed that lich... and he will be up again before breakfast.

And that... is where we pick up tonight.
